Pediatric Dentistry from a Compassionate, Kid-friendly Team
We understand how much you care about your child’s health. Unfortunately, while our society pays a lot of attention to healthy diet and exercise, children’s dental wellness is often overlooked.
Fortunately, Joshua Lee, DDS and John Lee, DDS, MSD, provide comprehensive pediatric dentistry at their Irving, TX, practice. Our staff is gentle and compassionate, and we excel at providing effective treatment for kids that is also fun and stress-free. With our focus on teaching excellent at-home hygiene habits, we can lay a foundation for your child's lifelong dental health.
The Importance of Pediatric Dentistry
Many people underestimate the importance of dental care for children:
- Contrary to what many believe, children are just as likely to develop cavities as adults.
- When patients suffer cavities at a young age, they are more likely to experience recurring decay as adults.
- Early dental problems can affect the development of children’s permanent teeth, including significant misalignment and bite issues.
- Misalignment not only affects a child's oral function, but possibly also his or her appearance and self-confidence at an age when he or she may already be more vulnerable to the opinions of others.
- Most children do not receive enough fluoride in their food or water. Our gels, rinses, and varnishes can supplement fluoride intake to help prevent dental decay.
Early pediatric treatment can prevent these long-term problems.
Pediatric Care at Kids and Grownups Dental
Drs. Joshua Lee and John Lee offer a variety of treatments to safeguard your child’s health, smile, and self-esteem.
Dental exams and cleanings are fundamental. At every appointment, our hygienist will remove bacteria and plaque that will cause decay. Your dentist can also evaluate your child’s health. With regular visits, we can diagnose alignment issues, cavities, and other problems at the earliest, most easily treatable stages.
While exams and cleanings are important for everyone, we typically offer fluoride treatments only to young children. Fluoride is a mineral that helps to strengthen dental enamel, the protective layer on the outside of teeth.
Sealants are another important component of pediatric treatment. When your child’s molars begin to grow in, we can coat the chewing surfaces with a form of liquid plastic. Once this material hardens, it will create a hard, invisible barrier.
With our focus on teaching excellent at-home hygiene habits, we can lay a foundation for your child's lifelong dental health.
Sealants will keep food and bacteria from building up in the deep grooves on your child’s back teeth.
Why Choose Us for Your Child’s Dental Care?
Though children and adults often have similar dental needs, kids need specialized care tailored to their unique needs. At Kids and Grownups Dental, we use gentle, precise techniques, treating children’s smaller teeth with minimal discomfort.
We also pride ourselves on the warm and friendly demeanor of our staff, which sets kids at ease and teaches them that practicing good oral hygiene at home can be fun.
Drs. Joshua Lee and John Lee can also treat children with dental anxiety, utilizing safe and gentle sedation to calm your child and set him or her at ease if dental phobia is present. Rest assured, we only recommend sedation when necessary and when we feel that it is truly in your child’s best interest.
